Why Use a Highline Setup?

A highline is simply a length of rope stretched between two trees to which you have tied your stock. This gives your stock free range of controlled motion - they can walk around in a circle, lie down and even roll after a long day on the trail. Stock is much more at ease on a high-line than tied to a hitch-rail or a tree.

Highlines are strongly recommended by Leave No Trace Backcountry Ethics, National State Parks and BLM lands so that trees are not girdled.

  • LEAVE NO TRACE - The TrailMax Horse Highline Tree Saver Straps prevent tree girdling when using horses on a highline set-up. They prevent your highline rope from cutting into and damaging tree bark and follow the Leave No Trace principles in the backcountry. The Department of Interior, National Forest Service, National Park Service and the US Fish and Wildlife Service also approve these for use.
  • HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION - The straps are constructed of heavy 2" webbing and with chrome plated steel rings. These will provide you with many years of service and have been strength tested for securing stock on a highline rope setup.
  • SOLD IN PAIRS - The straps are sold in pairs, sufficient for attaching your highline rope (sold separately on Amazon as Highline Rope as item number WPH114) to both trees. While these are intended to secure stock, customers have also used them to secure hammocks where hammock straps are required by law.
